When Is The Right Time To Send Out Christmas Cards?

Published On November 19th 2011. Under Christmas, Events and Celebrations  Tags: christmas

We think you will agree that receiving a Christmas Greeting Card from your family or friends is one of the most precious moments of Christmas. You feel loved and important, because someone really cares about you and makes sure you get your Christmas spirit on time.

Now try to remember how many times you were standing in the crowded post office a few days before Christmas, hoping that some miracle will happen and your cards, the last ones which were not sold out, will be received on time by your family and closest friends. You felt stressed and miserable, and like someone who doesn’t make enough effort at least once a year.

Well, if you know the feeling, this year you still have time to make things differently, and we will help you with that.

Snowman Family - Mary Engelbreit - Christmas Card

First thing to remember is that all your Christmas Greeting Cards should be sent out the next week after Thanksgiving. This way you will be confident that your cards will be received on time and saves you a lot of time to concentrate on other things. Sending out your Christmas cards on the first days of December also gives your recipients time to send out a card for you, in case they forgot about it.

So, in order for you to be able to send Christmas cards after Thanksgiving, you need to buy them now!

The other important thing to remember about Christmas cards, is the actual Christmas card. You need to make sure you send out appropriate cards to everyone. If you are sending a card to a friend who is single and has a very good sense of humor, then you can send something funny. If you are sending a card to your family members, then a customized Christmas card with your pictures on it will be a great idea. If you are sending a card to your colleagues or business partners, then a simple Holiday Greetings or Merry Christmas card will be most appropriate. Make sure that Christmas cards don’t get sent to people who don’t celebrate it.

Remember, that Christmas card should be personalized. Every person needs to feel special, so by taking your time and writing something special with your handwriting on each of the cards, you add a soul to it. Nowadays, there is a printed poem or greeting on almost every card, but even if you are sending out one of such cards, make sure you add at least few words from yourself. Also, don’t forget to sign your card and mark the date.

Chocolate Green Circle - Pony and Sparrow - Photo Christmas Card

Make sure you write the address on the envelope in your handwriting and include your return address. By adding the return address to your card your recipients will know who the card is from right away, ensures that they have your current address and can use it to send a card back to you if they haven’t already.

Wii Christmas - NobleWorks - Funny Christmas Card

And one last thing to remember: e-cards don’t count! It is nice to send an e-card or post a card on your Facebook page for everyone to have a Christmas spirit, but this should be done only as an additional thing, not as a substitute.

Just follow these simple rules of etiquette and you will always be sure that your most important people will feel loved during this magical and special time of the year.
