5 Gifts That Will Make Your Mom Happy on Mother’s Day

Published On March 15th 2012. Under Events and Celebrations, Gift Giving  Tags: family manners, gifts for mother, mothers day

When we searched for ways to make mothers feel special on Mother’s Day we were surprised to discover that the UK and the US are honouring motherhood on different days. While Britain is getting ready to spend March 18 with their mothers and is busy looking for the perfect presents this week, residents of the USA, Canada and other countries have another 2 months to hunt for the ideal gift, up  until May 13.***

We hope the following gift ideas and suggestions will help to make your mother happy regardless of the continent on which you stand this year.

1. “Everything you do can be done better from a place of relaxation.”

If you are looking for safe choices, here are some. Every woman appreciates high quality bath wear or nightgown and good skin care creams. Search for silk pyjamas or an Egyptian cotton bathrobe and compliment them with a nice bath gift set.

You might want to treat your mom with day in a spa salon in case her shelves are already filled with various shower gels, bath bombs and body creams.

2. “Photography is the beauty of life, captured.”

If you have a decent collection of beautiful images on your smart phone, consider making a photo book for your mother. In fact, the photos don’t necessarily should be from your phone. You can choose your favorite shots from picassa, flickr, facebook or instagram and upload them to blurb.com.
Then simply select a size of the book and template you like the best. Surprisingly, blurb books are very affordable. 7×7 inches (18×18 centimeters) 20 pages softcover photobook would cost you £7.95 ($ 12.45) + delivery.

You can also print a splendid photo you’ve made recently on canvas at canvaspop.com.

We like both options because it’s a perfect duo of something you’ve done yourself and the professional presentation.

Sending truly personal postcards are also much easier these days. Use Postagramapp application to instantly print and ship photos from Instagram, Facebook or your phone.

If you are in London you might want to rush off to Grafton Way and make a photo at “Love You Mom” billboard while it’s still there.

3. “A gift diamond shines better than one you buy for yourself”

Jewelry is another type of zero-risk presents. Go for a nice looking earrings, necklace, bracelet or maybe even a rare vintage brooch.

If you are getting her a watch, make sure you know your mother’s taste very well. To avoid any disappointment you can take her to a shop and give her an opportunity to select the ones she likes more.

4. “A man is known by the books he reads.”

Does your mom have an e-book reader yet? If she likes to read it’s time for her to get familiar with the magical gadget. We think, out of all the current e-readers, Kindle is the most convenient and easy to use. If your mother already has it, you can take a look at various accessories, such as lighted leather covers or some cute Kindle skins.

Another option is giving your mom Amazon gift certificate so she could buy as many books for her e-book toy as she pleases.

5. “Drinking good wine with good food in good company…”

Does you mother host wine tasting parties? Or maybe she prefers quiet movie evenings with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon from Bordeaux? In any case, set of crystal wine glasses and a stunning wooden cheeseboard might be a perfect addition to her tableware collection.

No matter what gift you choose, remember to accompany it with a flower bouquet or a little plant in a pot! It is probably the simplest way to make a woman a little happier.

This is it for today. We’ll talk more about Mother’s Day celebration this week. If you have questions about the Gifts That Will Make Your Mom Happy or you think we forgot to mention something  come talk with us!

Or maybe you are a mother? Tell us what is your dream present then!

***While the United Kingdom and Ireland celebrate Mother’s day on Fourth Sunday in Lent, North America and the majority of European countries reserved the Second Sunday of May for that.
See Wiki article that explain why there is such diversity in dates.
