What to Wear on a Vacation – Spring / Summer 2012 Trends

Published On April 4th 2012. Under Dress Code  Tags: travel, vacation

Although a t-shirt, jeans and walking shoes set might seem to be the most convenient outfit for sightseeing, often when on vacation we like to look our best and leave the casual clothing for less remarkable days. Let’s see what fashion trends will transform your spring or summer vacation 2012 into a true holiday and make you shine whether you are walking on busy streets of New York or dining in a cozy restaurant in Bordeaux.

1. See-Through Fabrics

See-through fabrics trend is here to stay for couple of next seasons. If there are no such items in your wardrobe, it’s time to finally venture to buy a see-through skirt, mildly transparent pastel dress or better yet a slightly see-through print dress.

2. Say it With Pleats

Pleated skirts aren’t really news anymore, but it’s another trend which after changing the shape a little enters the new season. If you are into pleated skirts you can safely spend money on them.

We should also say that such skirts will look amazing next autumn, combined with a chunky knit cardigan and long boots.

3. Pastel Colours

The main and perhaps the strongest spring/summer 2012 fashion trend are the pastels. You’ll see loads of ‘tasty’ looking sky blue trousers, peach-orange jackets, lemon yellow sundresses, turquoise green blouses and much more. Choose to wear whichever pastel apparel you like the most.

Even shoelaces in pastel colors are something to consider these days;)

4. Romantic Lace

Lace dresses amazed many of us last summer when Dolce&Gabbana  introduced their snow white Sicilian Sensuality collection. This spring we have another chance to try the lace on, only this time the high street shops picked up on the direction and we now can enjoy a lace dress without spending a fortune.

Keep in mind that this spring and summer are in favor of lace in pastel shades. If you want to experiment with  white lace, mix it with a bright color underdress.

5. Lingerie-Style Dresses

Last season you could mainly see dark colour lingerie-style clothing. Sometimes it was accompanied with bright underwear that could slightly show through the lightweight fabrics of dresses. This spring and summer the lingerie-style trend stepped on a more romantic road and revealed tender prints with lace insets. The colour range of such dresses are now much closer to the classic underwear colours.

This rather eccentric trend is all about silk fabrics and delicate lace dresses that look a lot like a slip or chemise.

What’s left is to decide which of these spring / summer 2012 fashion trends will become your vacation look and spend a day shopping. We wish you an excellent spring break and an unforgettable summer holiday!
