Congratulations, you are finally going on holiday! We bet you were dreaming about this moment for a while now and of course you want it to be perfect. You have already booked your tickets, splurged on the amazing hotel, hired a car and now you are wondering what else should be done before going on a trip?
We were thinking about these things as well, so we have prepared our top “5 Things To Do Before The Trip”:
1 – Documents. Make sure that all your travel documents are in order, especially if you are going overseas. Check if your passport have more than six month left before the expiration date. Some countries won’t let you enter, if your passport is about to expire. Also, make sure you have all the necessary visas and paperwork for each country you’ll be visiting.
Don’t forget to make photocopies of your passport and visa and keep it separately. This way it will be much easier to replace your documents if they get lost or stolen.
2 – Money. If you are traveling to the countries where the currency is different from yours, make sure you have your credit cards or enough cash with you. The easiest and safest way is to take cash out of the local ATM, but in case your card won’t be accepted for some reason, you should always have extra cash that you can simply exchange in a bank.
It would be a great idea to call your bank or credit card company before your trip and let them know about your plans. Most banks and credit card companies keep track of spending patterns and may interpret an unexpected overseas purchase on your credit card as a fraudulent activity. And as a result they can lock your account, which would cause a lot of inconvenience.
3 – Weather. Check the weather before you start packing your suitcase. Of course everyone hopes and expects the weather to be perfect, but you better be ready for anything. In case the weather forecast says it is going to rain the whole time, just pack appropriate clothes and plan some activities indoors. Don’t allow it to ruin your mood.
4 – Entertainment. Before you go on vacation, check what kind of entertainment the place provides. If you have any specific hobbies, for example, love to play tennis or watch movies, research beforehand where are the nearest tennis courts and movie theaters. It will safe a lot of your time.
5 – Plan. And finally, you should have a plan for at least a few first days of your trip. If you are traveling with your friends or family, it is always better to ask your companions about their expectations of the trip. Try to plan your vacation days so that everyone can enjoy their time or at least find the compromise solutions. For example, if someone’s dream holiday is to stay the whole day on the beach with a good book and you want to spend your days exploring the sights, the best way is to let everyone do their thing and meet each other over the dinner. This way you can both enjoy your time and share the highlights of your day over a glass wine.
We hope that you’ll find our tips helpful and your trip will be amazing. There is just one more advice that we want to share with you – don’t forget about travel insurance!
Have a fabulous trip!
